Education at the Setting of the Empire: A Critical Analysis of the Relation between Schooling, Subjectivity, and the Production of the State

Sat, November 1, 9:00 to 10:00am, Hotel Albuquerque, Alvarado D

Abstract

This paper attempts to reframe ideas around the significance of education to the longevity of the state by taking on larger philosophical and historical debates not often valued in educational scholarship. This paper offers an opportunity to reflect on how to differently understand present issues from a critical view of history, while keeping in mind that contemporary forms of social control and management will result in novel challenges to achieving educational justice.
