The role of public education in solving the gun violence public health epidemic

Abstract

While education alone will not solve the issues of gun violence, it is necessary to interrogate the ways education segregation and tracking contributes to youth being pushed towards violence. Much has been said about the ways in which schools create pipelines to the prison system in general, but little has been said about the influence of schools in gun violence epidemic. This paper seeks to fill this gap.
