The study, framed by Freirean critical pedagogy and drawing on the literature on Deaf culture, Deaf arts, and Deaf epistemology and ontology is intended to critically interrogate and present possibilities for change so that individuals may become conscious of the need for equal opportunities for (and respectful interactions with) Deaf people. Such understanding is crucial for the transformation of experiences of Deaf people in schools, educational settings, public spaces, and society in general, and consequently changing the world into a better place for all. To gain a perspective on the various forms of oppression, the uniqueness of the Deaf world, the socio-cultural view on deafness, and Radical Deaf studies is of paramount importance to envision a just and equitable present and future (including education) for Deaf people.
