Testimonio-Based Inquiry: Embroidering a Narrative Method

Abstract

The purpose of this presentation is to introduce a methodological innovation, Narrative Embroidery Method, as a visual-narrative qualitative approach that weaves together oral testimonios (Delgado-Bernal, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2016; Hubert, 2009) with textile-based storytelling to document lived experiences, their cultural and emotional contexts as artistic expressions (Anzaldua, 1981; 1987; Abril-Gonzalez et al., 2018; He, 2003). I present this project as part of my doctoral dissertation based on research of ten Latina immigrant mothers.
