This presentation explores the socio-historical context of Black home education (BHE) within the Black Belt of the American South through a systematic literature review. It aims to uncover the historical evolution, socio-cultural dynamics, and contemporary challenges and opportunities associated with BHE in this region. This study aligns with the 2025 AESA Annual Meeting by examining how historical inequities and systemic racism have shaped educational practices and the self-determination efforts of Black families.
