The recent rise of anti-diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) legislation in the United States poses a significant threat to the progress made in fostering gender equity within higher education institutions. The presenter explores the multifaceted impact of such legislation on gender equity spaces, specifically focusing on student leadership development programs, faculty mentorship initiatives, and resources for traditionally marginalized students. Through a critical analysis of recent policy changes and case studies from institutions navigating these challenges, this paper examines the specific ways in which anti-DEI legislation undermines efforts to achieve gender equity. Furthermore, the presenter proposes strategies for student affairs professionals to navigate this complex terrain, including advocacy efforts, curriculum adaptations, and the fostering of inclusive spaces.
