Multiple Presenter Session: Alternative Session
This year’s CASA session will provide an occasion to remember the history of AESA’s involvement with accreditation bodies, professional standards, and coalition building that historically ensured social foundations had a “seat at the table.” Although the curricular primacy of social foundations has waxed and waned over the years, social foundations has likely been omitted from most Colleges of Education across the United States. And if social foundation has not been entirely omitted, it has been forced into the shadows or taken up refuge as a special topic within various other course offerings. With this reality comes the loss of faculty positions, the diminishment of social foundations scholarship, and worst of all, students of education are offered limited intellectual views of education as area of study.
