Multiple Presenter Session: Alternative Session
One year into Donald Trump’s 2024 presidency, educators in the foundations of education have faced intensified political pressures, policy shifts, and cultural battles over curriculum, academic freedom, and diversity initiatives. In this session, we reflect on the strategies and practices that have allowed educators to resist, adapt, and reimagine their work in this new era. How have we maintained our commitments to equity and justice amid heightened attacks on DEI efforts and critical pedagogy? What creative approaches have emerged to sustain ourselves and our students in an increasingly hostile educational landscape? Through dialogue and shared experiences, this session will explore how foundations of education professors have navigated these challenges while fostering spaces for critical inquiry and resistance. Attendees will leave with insights, strategies, and a renewed sense of solidarity as we continue the fight for an education system that prioritizes truth, justice, and liberation.
