Multiple Presenter Session: Panel
Abstract
In Asian Diaspora Cultural Studies and Curriculum Possibilities, we continue the conversations on Asian diaspora experiences, histories, and knowledges in Asia and the United States. Drawing upon several theoretical and methodological traditions, Asian diaspora cultural studies scholars respond to the call of AESA to challenge dominant narratives, explore intersectional Asian diaspora lives, and recenter and reclaim diaspora knowledge within formal and informal curriculum spaces in the ongoing project of educational justice across institutions, practices, and communities. There are three purposes to this session: (1) Engage in Asian diaspora cultural studies embodied in Asian diaspora experience as a liberating space in the U. S. educational landscapes; (2) Highlight Asian diaspora experiences as part of contemporary curriculum knowledge situated within broader historical and ongoing conversations on curriculum possibilities; and (3) Recognize Asian diaspora cultural workers’ agency and advocacy and work across coalitions to build solidarity and promote educational justice.
