Community and belonging in times of uncertainty: Collective space building through centering, discussion, and play

Multiple Presenter Session: Alternative Session

Abstract

This alternative session aims to build a warm, inclusive space where AESA members can share experiences, listen to new ideas, and connect with others. Considering the many changes that are happening, we seek to create an inclusive space for attendees to gather, decompress, share their feelings, and get to know one another more. Ultimately, this community event asks us to embrace vulnerability with one another and connect at a deep level. In creating critical communities, we establish places where “in standing up for others, we ensure that others will be able to stand up for us” (Birdsong, 2020, p. 170).
