Taking the Pulse on Homeschooling: US Household Census Pulse Homeschooling Results for 2023-24

Abstract

This paper will report on the subgroup results from the US Census Household Pulse Survey (Pulse) which captures important information on the growing homeschool community. These results are from the end of the Pulse survey and are comprehensive of the 2023-24 academic year. We will consider subgroups within the homeschooling data and state-level information to better understand how homeschooling is different across the country and by subgroups.We use descrptive and regression analysis. We wil also discuss the future of the Pulse. While it was slated to continue with a new version in January of 2025, the future of that survey is currently uncertain.
