Thursday, November 13, 3:30 to 5:00pm, Property: Hyatt Regency Seattle, Floor: 5th Floor, Room: 502 - Cowliltz

Session Submission Type: Workshop

Abstract

This workshop will feature program officers from five prominent national funders of social science research: Arnold Ventures, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, Washington Center for Equitable Growth, and William T. Grant Foundation. Each panelist will discuss their organization’s funding priorities, funding opportunities, and application and review process. They will highlight examples of policy-relevant research recently funded by their respective foundations, focusing on transformative and resilient policy solutions. Panelists will also share tips for seeking funding and developing a competitive application for their respective private foundations. The session will offer substantial time for discussion with attendees. The goal will be to inform attendees about the private funding landscape, which is of critical importance in today’s political context. Attendees will also learn what constitutes a strong proposal at five different private funder organizations.
