APPAM Communities Cross-Sector Researchers

Saturday, November 15, 8:30 to 9:30am, Property: Grand Hyatt Seattle, Floor: 1st Floor/Lobby Level, Room: Leonesa 1

Session Submission Type: APPAM Communities

Community Group Description

Across the country, state workforce, education, human services, health, corrections, and other agencies and their research partners are responding to the demand of policymakers and practitioners to leverage timely administrative data to improve programs, services, and, ultimately, communities. This work presents a variety of challenges given traditional programmatic silos, outdated technology and data infrastructure, limited staffing resources, competing priorities, and very real privacy concerns.

State leaders pursuing cross-sector data analysis and research can benefit from connecting with colleagues pursuing similar projects by sharing common challenges and promising practices “in the room,” as well as by growing a network of supports and resources to call upon in the future.

The facilitator will be flexible with the content based on participant interests, but topics will include the following:

  • Priority research topics utilizing administrative data,

  • Data access and governance issues and solutions,

  • Projects and products under development, and

  • Available technical supports and assistance (e.g., Multi-State Data Collaborative, Coleridge Initiative, Data Integration Support Center at WestEd).
