Session Submission Type: APPAM Communities
This APPAM community gathering will bring together researchers, other professionals and students interested in immigration policy reform and research that describes and identifies the effects of immigration policy and enforcement actions on individuals. We welcome those studying these issues beyond U.S. borders. One aim is to support the development of an “action-oriented” network, that is, thinking about how our work can inform the public and future policy, as well as activities such as litigation. The pooints of discussion will include: (1) What immigration policy developments are researchers or organizations actively studying? What do we view as the most urgent topics to study or where we currently lack critical knowledge? (2) What data sources can be leveraged to support this work, and is there interest in building data repositories that can be made more broadly available to the research and advocacy communities? and (3) What types of forums can we use or create for ongoing networking and sharing of findings by researchers and policy and advocacy organizations working in this area, and is there interest in collaborating on a proposal to request funding for such a network (that would also include data sharing)?
