APPAM Communities Community-Engaged and Participatory Researchers

Thursday, November 13, 3:30 to 4:30pm, Property: Hyatt Regency Seattle, Floor: 7th Floor, Room: 702 - Clearwater

Session Submission Type: APPAM Communities

Community Group Description

(Note: formerly titled the Community-Engaged and Participatory Data Researchers)

Research has and can be extractive of marginalized communities, and research that involves data often limits participation to data collection, prefers quantitative data, and includes little input from or follow-up with the community. The Community-Engaged and Participatory Researchers Community Group will host its third convening to strengthen support for community-engaged and -led approaches in public policy research, analysis, and management.
In the spirit of community-engaged and participatory approaches, we will co-create the agenda with past participants to build on the themes we discussed in 2024. The interactive discussion will build on last year’s co-created principles to discuss practical application of the principles in one or more of four key areas:

  • Identity and Cultural Perspectives of Accountability

  • Barriers and Incentives to CE+PR

  • Measurement and Metrics

  • Collaboration

Other related and relevant agenda items are welcome.
