Session Submission Type: Panel
This session examines the complexities of equity and access policies across the postsecondary pipeline, exploring how systemic policy shifts impact student populations. Together, these papers analyze the ripple effects of institutional frameworks on enrollment, student behavior, and academic progression. The first study maps changing college enrollment patterns in the immediate aftermath of the landmark SFFA v. Harvard Supreme Court decision. The next analysis uncovers how affirmative action frameworks influence K-12 student motivation and pre-college effort long before applications are ever submitted. Finally, the session shifts focus to the two-year sector, evaluating how direct enrollment policies in community college mathematics impact equity and academic outcomes for adult learners.Collectively, this research highlights the nuanced, sometimes unequal gains of structural interventions designed to expand educational opportunities.
