Session Submission Type: Roundtable
This roundtable will discuss our research and activities related to First Generation Scholars in the Profession and bring focused attention to the ways in which class, economic inequality, and mobility can affect political scientists’ ability to thrive educationally and professionally, perhaps throughout their careers. This Committee adopts a broad, inclusive definition of First Generation Scholar (FGS) including those scholars who may have parents who have attained neither a bachelor’s nor an associate degree and/or may be international scholars who are the first generation to study and/or teaching at the college or university level in the United States.
