Analyzing the Impact of Pregnancy Resource Centers on State Abortion Rates

Abstract

Much of the research analyzing state level abortion rates has focused on economic conditions, demographics, and legislation. However, the impact of the approximately 1900 pregnancy resource centers which seek to dissuade women from obtaining abortions have received little attention from researchers. The research project will make utilize a comprehensive dataset of pregnancy resource centers from Heartbeat International to determine if states with a relatively high per capita concentration of pregnancy resource centers have a lower incidence of abortion.
