Session Description

This author-meets-critics panel focuses on Candice Delmas's recent and important book, A Duty to Resist: When Disobedience Should be Uncivil (Oxford, 2018). Delmas defends a demanding account of a duty to resist injustice, and argues that such resistance should not always be "civil." The book fits very well with the theme of the conference, as it argues for an expansive vision of what citizens may do to confront "power and privilege." We have also assembled a diverse set of excellent scholars to serve as commentators, so the discussion promises to be both timely and lively.
