Service Delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa

Sat, August 31, 4:00 to 5:30pm, Hilton, Columbia 3

Session Submission Type: Created Panel

Session Description

Delivering public goods is one of the foremost tasks of any state. Yet in sub-Saharan Africa, service delivery is often insufficient to meet citizen demands and biased in its allocation. The papers on this panel use data from across the sub-continent to examine challenges in service delivery, including the conditions under which politicians favor their own gender or ethnic group and the extent to which weak service provision has created space for populism and international investment.
