Gendered Attitudes: Origins & Implications

Sat, August 31, 2:00 to 3:30pm, Marriott, Virginia C

Session Submission Type: Created Panel

Session Description

How do national contexts shape voters' perceptions of women's political leadership? Do citizens favor male leaders when national security is threatened? Might attitudes that support women's inclusion lead to women's subordination? When are women penalized for political behaviors that for men may be commonly accepted? This cross-national panel considers how attitudes about women and men influence politics and how political contexts contribute to gendered attitudes.
