Session Description

This panel provides frank assessments of and reflections on a variety of academic job market experiences. Presenters will discuss their own recent experiences on the academic job market, the ways in which the academic market aligned with and differed from their expectations, what they learned, and advice they have for others. Presenters represent different subfields, departments, and job market outcomes, including multiple years on the academic job market, in order to provide a range of perspectives.
