Session Submission Type: Roundtable
Sponsored by the Arab Political Science Network: How do scholars in the Arab World use Political Science? What are the main research agendas or topics that interest regional scholars? In this roundtable, we focus on the interests, goals, challenges and priorities of MENA scholars of political science. In a political climate fraught with uncertainty, repression, dwindling freedoms and access to public spaces, how do regional scholars of political science carry out their research and position it in public discussions? How does their research interact with the political science research outside the region – in Europe, North America and elsewhere? This roundtable will feature scholars from inside and outside the MENA region, commencing an inter-regional disciplinary discussion that bridges the interests and concerns of Arab political science scholars—irrespective of their home institutions or geographical base—and privileges the interests of political science scholars in the Arab World.
