Abstract

Terrorist organizations are quite savvy when it comes to financial investments and diversification of their financial portfolios. However, investment strategies of terrorist organizations have not been thoroughly examined. The research question that this paper seeks to answer is “What are the financial investment strategies of jihadist terrorist organizations?” Variables such as: political ideologies, structures, objectives, financial goals, and counterterrorism efforts of organizations will be examined. Case studies include al-Qaida, ISIS, and Hamas and a mixed methodological research design will be employed.
