What Winston Churchill Read: The Education of a Statesman

Thu, September 10, 12:00 to 1:30pm MDT (12:00 to 1:30pm MDT), TBA

Session Submission Type: Full Paper Panel

Session Description

Winston Churchill’s career as a writer was even longer than his career as a statesman, beginning with his early dispatches as a war correspondent and ending with what he wrote after his retirement. Throughout Churchill’s life his understanding was improved by voluminous reading, which provided much of the raw material for his speeches and writings. Our panel investigates some notable features of his reading to discover how it informed his political thought and action.
