Session Submission Type: Roundtable
With the COVID-19 outbreak having had severe impacts on the lives of people all over the world, scholars have been quick to study the pandemic’s impact on people’s political lives, among other aspects. This roundtable brings together representatives of those research groups that have conducted cross-national studies on the pandemic’s political impacts. Thomas Hale and Anna Petherick will report the findings from the Coronavirus Government Response Tracker. Anna Luhrmann will reflect on the pandemic’s impact on democracy based on the V-dem’s “Pandemic Backsliding” study. Representing the CoronaNet project, which tracks governments’ pandemic policies, Luca Messerschmidt will report the findings from its dyadic dataset. Jay van Bavel will report the results from a global study of social and moral psychology factors related to COVID19.
