Session Submission Type: In-Person Created Panel
Scholars have increasingly paid attention to the influence of lawyers and external actors, including amicus curiae, on the nature of judicial outcomes and processes. Advancing previous research both substantively and methodologically, this panel investigates the influence of attorney gender in oral arguments and on briefs and uncovers new insights on the influential role of the Solicitor General. Analyses also explore the decisions of external actors to submit briefs in litigation beyond the U.S. and the conditional nature of amici influence before the U.S. Supreme Court.
