Session Submission Type: Virtual Roundtable
The racialization of the devastating, ongoing COVID-19 outbreak as a “Chinese flu” and mass uprisings and grassroots organizing in defense of Black lives and other marginalized communities have laid bare the significance of multi-racial and intersectional solidarity and coalition-building. This panel brings together member-leaders of different minority-serving status committees of the APSA to discuss the recent (and historical) spikes in anti-Asian violence and the impact of persistent and deepening structural inequalities on our students, colleagues, and communities. We will also engage in a dialogue about the challenges of and opportunities for solidarity and coalitional work within and between our respective constituencies and communities that elevate and empower intersectionally marginalized groups and communities towards the pursuit of justice for all.
