Bipartisan compromise is a foundational norm of democracy. However, that notion is largely gone in American politics. Using Moral Foundations Theory (MFT), I investigate how different moral emphases might predispose individuals toward political behaviors. Specifically, I expect individuals more aligned with purity/loyalty to be less willing to compromise, despite support for democracy.
