The proposed panel brings together brings together Doctoral Candidate and junior scholars working in the field of Chinese politics based in North America, Europe, and Asia. The four papers are based on a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. Focusing on various cases, they explore the, often subtle and indirect, ways in which societal actors may influence the implementation of public policy in the context of Chinese autocratic political institutions.
