Societal instability has a significant and often times paradoxical impact on fertility behavior and outcomes. Somtimes, like after the economic crisis in iceland and terrorist attack of 07/11/2001, fertility goes up while in other instances like during trasnition to market economy and democracy in the countires of Eastern and Central Europe, fertility went into a steep decline.
In the paper I propose a model that allows to tests impacts of the sociopolitical instabilities of various types, magnitude and instensity on fertility using major assumptions of uncertainty reduction theory.
