About Annual Meeting
Extensive research has shown individual religiosity is important to understand the dynamics of protest participation. Far less work has examined the role of religious structures in the community on protest mobilization. Our research links the county-level religious structure in New York State to protest mobilization for four protest issues (African-American civil rights, feminist/pro-choice/LGBT, anti-poverty, and anti-nuclear/peace movements) prominent during the study period of 1960 to 1995.
