This paper is an excerpt from my dissertation on “A Content Analysis on the Coverage of Gun Trafficking Along the U.S.-Mexico Border”. The objective of this study was to analyze how the media on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border portrayed the issue spillover violence. National newspapers on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border were analyzed. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used to collect and analyze data. Statistics such as frequencies, cross tabulations and logistic regression were utilized to demonstrate the strength, magnitude and association between the categories from the content analysis.
