About Annual Meeting
While the role of political and social elites has received a great deal of attention within the social movements literature, the influence that corporations can have on activists and movement goals has received little attention. When social movement scholars investigate the relationship between corporations and activism, most often corporations are the target of social change. In this paper, I focus on the role corporations play in helping to push for social change. Specifically, I investigate the types of social movements corporations chose to donate money or attention too, in what levels they get involved, and how their involvement affects the standing of the movement with the public.
