About Annual Meeting
Using the China Family Panel Studies, this paper investigates the applicability of the relative resource model and time availability model in explaining domestic labor division in China, a country experiencing rapid economic development and major social changes. I use ordered logistic regression models to examine the patterns of household labor division in China. I expect to find a relationship between women’s relative income, absolute income, the available time of both wives and husbands, and their household labor divisions. Due to the data limitation, I am unable to examine the influence of gender ideology on domestic labor division in China, which is one of the drawbacks of this paper.
