The Effects of Gender Role Attitude and Dual-earner Couple's Combined Monthly Income on Subjective Time Pressure

Sat, August 16, 8:30 to 9:30am, TBA

Abstract

Most researchers agree that leisure time has negative effects on feeling busy, but working time does not. However, there is still difference of subjective time pressure after controling leisure time and working time. This article's purpose is exploring what factor has effects on time pressure. Especially, I focus on dual earner couples because work-life balance is very hot issue in South Korea. It is generally known that the higher income couple earns, the busier they are. I found Gender Role Attitude is very significant modified variable. This suggests that those who accept that dual-earning is necessary for modern families to adapt to the new social changes can be relatively free from time pressure after achieving higher income level, while others who does not accept it can be busier because they does not like doing their a variety of works and they have not to do after becoming rich.
