About Annual Meeting
This paper focuses on the reconstruction of central Beirut following civil war (1975-1990), particularly the master-planned development that liberally engages with "Ottoman" legacies in their local form, in order to understand how these imperial traces can figure in -- and be opportunistically adapted to create -- new exclusive spaces of home and belonging in post-conflict cities.
