The International Baccalaureate Program: Placement, Access and Effectively Maintained Inequality

Abstract

This paper examines the growth of the International Baccalaureate Program in the United States. Using data from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009, the Common-Core of Data, the Private School Universe Study, and a database of IB schools in the US, this paper will analyze differences between schools offering IB programs to those that do not, noting race-ethnic and SES concentrations and differences of each. It will also analyze differences in geographic regions or areas that offer IB programs.
