Intimacy and Embodiment in Men's Friendships that Cross Sexual Identity Boundaries

Sun, August 17, 8:30 to 9:30am, TBA

Abstract

This paper is part of a larger project that explores friendships between straight and gay men. In this paper, two friendships pairs are explored in-depth to understand the phenomenology of these friendships and how they change over time. The juxtaposition of the two pairs is used to explore connections to the later work of Michel Foucault with respect to improvisation, boundary transgression, and the creation of new relational forms between men.
