The purpose of this study to examine the Effects of Giving a birth and Becoming a parent
on the Turnover Intension. . Despite new labor ideology refers to ‘work as a social norms’ at neoliberal society, if women consider change or resign their occupation after experiencing child delivery and rearing, it indicates that society entrust burden women to perform nurturing and care-work. Through this, we can figure it out how gender-discriminatory cultural perspectives surrounding concepts of childbirth and Mothering is. Ground on this, to analyze presented hypothesis, this Study use the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families (KLOWF) by Korean Women’s Development institute (KWDI). And the results are as in the following: (a) Experiencing child-birth and rearing have negative effects on family-life effects on work. (b) But, this effect is disappeared if satisfaction levels of spouse’s domestic division of labor are controlled. (c) Experiencing child-birth and rearing have positive effect on Turnover intention of women. (d) Unfortunately, there is no statistical significant of mediating variable so it is impossible to explain a series of process between childbirth and employment status of women. These results suggest that, women who experience childbirth and child care are likely to feel Turnover intension which means want to leave their job. But if husband participate in household work, childbirth or child care is not effect negatively to wife’s work.
