494 - Policy and Research Workshop. Studying Ourselves – Data and Methods in Research on Academic Inequalities

Abstract

The workshop will showcase data and methods used in studies about inequality in academia, including discussion of quantitative and qualitative data and method suitability to different research questions. The workshop will discuss recent research done by the Committee on the Status of Women in Sociology as well as by other prominent research of in the field. These two overviews will be followed by a brief panel discussion of the research methodologies. In the final part of the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to raise questions and discuss methodological issues related to the study or to their own research.
