This panel examines relationships between gender and economic institutions, with a special emphasis on how they converge to create unequal experiences. As we enter a time characterized as economically distressful, this panel aims to explore some of these questions: will rising economic inequality lead to relapsing and sharpening of existing gender divisions? Or will they trigger new, innovative responses that will not only significantly challenge gendered inequities but other forms of inequities that pervade social life toward meaningful social change?
