About Annual Meeting
Although a large body of research shows that organizations are central to the production of racial inequality, traditional theories of inequality in organizations see organizations as racially neutral. In contrast, this article argues that race is foundational to organizational processes. I review current explanations for racial inequality in organizations to develop a structural theory of racialized organizations. I then provide a few suggestions for a research program based on this theory of racialized organizations.
