About Annual Meeting
Economic realities today have some measurable consequences for the masses. The rate of poverty, unemployment, incarceration, the uninsured and the ecological effects on the globe, proves that the earth and the majority of working class people are in dire straits. Scholars have highlighted these issues from different perspectives, more often providing an analysis on the structural, institutional and interpersonal relationships of oppression. However, while some apply a description of the economic realities, many don’t offer an analysis of the political-economic system or call for revolutionary transformation. Here, a variety of literature will be presented in chronological order to depict how the theoretical lens utilized by scholars can impede systemic change or transform the society.
