About Annual Meeting
The body is constituted as a representation of being in the world. It possesses a history covered by intersubjective trajectories at particular moments (Csordas, 2003). Through the body, or better said, embodiment, social actors experience their relationship with the world. Thus, understanding the dance as a form of bodily experience of social actors, the goal of the present study was to understand the meaning of the dance for young people belonging to the Kalunga quilombola community of Teresina de Goiás (located in the inland area of the State of Goiás, Brazil). The aim is to assess the processes of transition occurring in the daily life of the Kalunga community with respect to the response toward the dances (values and practices) between the oldest generation and young people.
