A Postsocialist Perspective on Neoliberal Globalization

Abstract

This paper presents a critical review of the literature on neoliberal globalization from a postsocialist perspective. It explains how neoliberalism and neoliberal globalization relate to the experiences of postsocialist regimes in Eastern Europe, and what conclusions might be drawn with respect to future prospects and alternative pathways for these regimes. It argues that neoliberalism and neoliberal globalization have particular relevance for the experiences of post-socialist regimes in Eastern Europe, as well as that Eastern European postsocialisms have particular relevance for the way we think about neoliberalism and neoliberal globalization and what they may become.
