Digital Cultural Health Care Capital

Mon, August 24, 8:30 to 9:30am, TBA

Abstract

This paper develops further the notions of
digital cultural health capital, which I have recently published on in 'Digital Fairground' (Current Perspectives in Social Theory).
I argue that digitalization of health care does reify the social inequality and injustice along the the axes of race, ethnicity, and age. This cannot be alleviated through resolving the issue of 'access' alone, but must consider competence, motivation, usage, feasibility and the goodness claim. All these factors constitute a form of social cognitive form of capital, that is particular to the contact zone of health care, digitalization and social justice.
