About Annual Meeting
In this paper, we conduct a latent class analysis to distinguish organizational identities among craft brewers. We then conduct spatial analyses among these classes to uncover the spatial dynamics of organizational identities within fields. Our class analysis reveals three organizational identities
among craft brewers: established, up-and-comers, and innovators. Innovators are likely to locate near established brewers. Up-and-comers, however, tend to locate away from other craft brewers. This paper contributes to research on organizational identities by demonstrating how industry dynamics are predicated on differentiation, but are co-constituted by spatial dynamics.
