Tracing Patterns in Meaning Instability over an Object's Life Course

Abstract

Objects are not always equally open to misinterpretation over its lifecourse. This paper argues that tracing the trajectories of objects reveal dynamic histories of stability and instability due to materiality, familiarity, routine, and decay.
