Comparing Models for Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Abstract

We compare and contrast cross national models for four different green gases. Using a variant of the IPAT/Stirpat framework, we model demographic, political and economic variables as they predict emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases. Our findings do support the idea that different greenhouse gases have different sociological causes. We discuss our findings in light of theoretical, methodological and policy considerations.
